Printer Cartridges…?

My sister is working on a camp project (sort of a memory book the campers she looks after) and she is having to print out a Great Deal of color pictures she scanned with our HP printer/scanner. I just put in new black and color cartridges (separate ones, 92 for black and 93 for color) and by the afternoon, I had to replace them yet again. Cartridges are not cheap and all so I was wondering if there was some way to conserve the ink (maybe a different cartridge number? I`m not very knowledgeable in these things). Would it be cheaper to just save the pictures on a disk and print them out at a library?
