What is Champagne at your bottle store?
I’ve looked, and none of the bottles actually say champagne. Is chardonnay the same as champagne? If not, what words do I look for on the bottle to know its champagne?
Champagne is sparkling wine that originated in the Champagne region of France. If no bottles actually say “champagne”, look for “sparkling wine”.
Chardonnay is a very versatile white wine.
As far as brands go, here is a site that has names and pictures of labels you may recognize in your store: http://www.libation-unlimited.com/champagne-brands.aspx
Champagne Gifts: Tips on Enjoying Champagne
So you received a champagne gift or are about to give someone a champagne gift with full treatment i.e. meaning service deluxe. Now what are the next steps to make sure that you or that special someone will be able to enjoy your champagne or champagne gift at its fullest? Here are some tips on how to be able to do just that.
- Place the champagne in an ice bucket or cooler to chill. Never ever put champagne in the freezer to cool. Chilling the champagne in the freezer dulls both the aroma and taste of the drink.
- Have your champagne glasses at room temperature. This will ensure that the bubbles and the sparkle of the champagne will be retained once the drink hits that glass.
- When opening a bottle, always tilt the champagne bottle at a 45-degree angle with the cork side away from you, other people, or any breakable object. Remember, the pressure inside the champagne bottle is very strong and opening the bottle is quite hazardous if not done properly.
- Use crystal champagne glasses for drinking. Having these crystal champagne glasses on hand not only allows you to have a total champagne drinking experience, it also allows for a more romantic setting for you and your loved one.
- Once the bottle has been opened but its contents have not been fully consumed, use a champagne stopper immediately to close the bottle. This will prevent the bubbles from escaping thus making sure that the champagne will still have sparkle even if it isn’t newly opened anymore.
There are other tips one can consider in order to enjoy a champagne gift to the fullest. But so far, these are the ones that will truly provide the basics in terms of enjoyment. Just remember, it’s not a celebration if there isn’t any champagne to grace the occasion!
