the Cricket Expression what is the SCAL program?

I am getting ready to buy a Cricut Expression & I keep seeing SCAL program on yahoo answers here what is this used for and where do i buy it.I really know nothing the machine i seen a infomercial on TV and thought it would be good to use for crafts anyone who can give me tips would be appreciated thanks.
