Tips for Healing a Broken Heart From Love

The feelings of loss after a breakup are intense and healing a broken heart from love takes time.  I don’t think anything else comes close to the sadness and despair you can feel after a relationship gets bad.

Only time will heal this kind of pain.  We all go through it and a breakup can really mess with your mind.  Sometimes, you just want to get back together and some times you just want to be able to forget them.  Either way, it is going to take some time and you will need to regroup and get your emotions back in order.

Rushing into a rebound relationship will rarely work out long term, which is probably why we have a name for it.  Take some time and get your feelings settled down.  It is ok to start dating again but go slow and don’t jump all over your next date and try to get too serious too fast.

A few tips for healing a broken heart from love:

1.  Pause and regroup
Don’t rush into dating or start trying to find a new relationship.  Nothing is more unappealing than someone too needy.  Settle your emotions by taking a dating time out.  Just start doing things you like to do or always wanted to do.  A new change of scenery, routine or activity will bring new life into yours.  Just have some fun and stay busy.  Don’t mope around the house or shut down completely.

A couple of weeks of sadness is quite common so feel free to take a couple of weeks to do nothing and get your grief out of your system.  It’s perfectly normal but don’t let this drag on for too long.  Be proactive and get out of the house and start being social again.

2.  Talk it out
Find one of your close friends and sit down and discuss your relationship and just get it all out of your system.  Listen to what they think happened and why.  People on the outside will be able to objectively see what really happened.  We are pretty blind to what is going on with our own relationships.  Love blinds us.

3.  Don’t try to get your ex back right away
After a breakup, we all have the desperate need to make things right and get our ex back.  If that is your plan, keep in mind your ex is going to have doubts.  So you can not rush back in and just spill your dieing love for them.  It is a repellent not a good thing. Play it slow and not too serious.  See if you can start back up as friends first.  The harder you chase them, the worse your odds are.

Better to date at least a couple of new people first.  This gives your emotions a chance to settle down.  And gives your ex time to think about you and decide what they want.

When your ex sees you are not needy and are doing fine without them, you start looking attractive again and they will think back on the relationship and remember the good times they are missing and quite possibly this will be your chance to get back together.

Every relationship is different and the reasons for breakups vary so while it is nice to consider the possibilities.  Don’t think you can rebuild every relationship.  All you can do is try.
