I have had my baby budgie for 2 1/2 weeks now… he is now eating, and i think occassionally has some water bu

he won’t touch any apple, bread, or veggies i put in the cage, he hasn’t played with any of the toys, and he rarely makes any noise (only tweets when birds fly past, or he has a little chat with the tap is running really loud, or we are cooking something that sizzles…). I don’t know what to do with him. I try to put my hand in the cage to get him used to me and he just flies around like a crazy bird. I really wanted to tame him, and have him come out of the cage and play…but I feel like maybe this is not going to happen. He also seems to sleep alot.
Does anyone have any constructive advice? I really want what is best for Blinky…… he is a beautiful bird, but doesnt seem to have a personality.
Sorry – I don’t know if I was clear… he IS eating, i have made him some rissole shape things with seed and bird crumble, he eats millet and he eats honey stick and seed, he DOES NOT eat fruit or vegies…

I think your baby is still growing and may be why he is sleeping a lot, human babys sleep a lot when they are not crying when they are babies. I wouldn’t stick my hand in there, just talk to him every day and give him plently of attention, soon he will get used to your voice and trust you. It takes a long time, and just do it over and over. If you talk in a high pitch voice they like that and say “pretty bird” and “hi baby” and the birds name, and “kiss” and make the kiss sound. Eventually he’ll come around.
